A Pint of History

Located in the heart of Cedarbrae, Swigs Pub & Grill is a local family-owned and managed neighborhood pub.   There is some history to the pub; open since 1980 Swigs was Calgary’s very first neighborhood pub! Originally opening under the name Ye Olde Manor, after a petition was overruled against opening, the establishment became a part of the community. Before becoming Swigs Pub & Grill, the pub had changed owners and names multiple times. The family took over from the previous owner in November 2008 after being both regular customers and longtime employees.

            Swigs takes pride in having a friendly and open attitude with their customers. With a large regular customer base, they have the “Cheers” mentality - “Where everyone knows your name”. They have a welcoming staff that provide great service, smiles and love to see and meet new faces.

Daily food and drink specials, a happy hour until 6 pm daily and modest prices, make this pub a great option for an outing. Swigs serves a full menu, which is also available for takeout. The famous Calgary wings with over 20 flavors, the giant delicious burgers and the steak are just some of the recommended favorites. They also serve breakfast on the weekend. Swigs offers a wide range of drink options with eight cold beers on tap, a large selection of liquor, spirits, domestic and imported beer and ciders. The pub also has 6 VLT machines, 8 HD flat screen TV’s, a pool table, Wi-Fi and a variety of board games and decks of cards for the customers to come and enjoy.             Swigs is a large supporter of live local music. They host open jams, welcoming all styles of musicians, bands and groups to come up on stage to showcase themselves or just have some fun. Swigs also loves hosting theme parties, DJ nights, trivia and more!

 Swigs Pub & Grill holds lots of fun events throughout the year including two annual charity golf tournaments, a curling tournament, a baseball tournament, and added this year a paintball event. Being a huge supporter of the community of Cedarbrae, Swigs has used its past few golf tournaments to help raise funds for the community center. Swigs is proud of raising thousands of dollars to date, with the funds going towards helping maintain the Cedarbrae Community Center and its programs for the benefit of all the community.
